This is a classic trek, visiting Ghorepani (2874m), Poon Hill (3210m) & Annapurna Base Camp (4130m) – all within the Annapurna Conservation Area.

Annapurna is a Sanskrit name which literally means “full of food”, but is normally translated as Goddess of the Harvests. Annapurna area was first explored by the British adventurer Col. James O.M. ‘Jimmy’ Roberts in 1950 and referred to it as the ‘Sanctuary of Gods’. To this day it has been referred to as Annapurna Sanctuary.
